A Kerala man has been sentenced to 142 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
A POCSO court in Kerala’s Pathananthitta has sentenced a 41 year old man to 142 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 10 year old child for two years. The man raped the 10 year old child for two years.

A POCSO court in Kerala’s Pathananthitta has sentenced a 41 year old man to 142 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh for sexually abusing a 10 year old child for two years.
A Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) court convicted the man and said that if the accused does not pay the fine, he will have to serve another three years in jail. This is the maximum sentence given to an accused in a POCSO case in the district.
A man identified as Anandan PR alias Babu has been booked by the Tiruvalla police for raping a 10-year-old girl between 2019 and 2021 and brutally sexually assaulting her multiple times during those two years. Babu was a relative and was staying in the same residence with the child’s parents.
The Pathanmanthitta district police said that witness statements, medical records and evidence were strong in favor of the prosecution in the case in which Principal POCSO Prosecutor Advocate Jason Mathews appeared for the prosecution.
A total of 142 years of rigorous imprisonment…and a total fine of Rs 5 lakhs for the offenses listed under POCSO,” the district police said.
