ANDROCLES AND THE LION: Now answer these questions.

1. Where did Androcles hide himself?

Answer: Androcles hid himself in a cave.

2. Why did the lion lick his hands?

Answer: The lion lick the hands of Androcles because he pulled the thorn out from the paw of lion. 

3. What would you do if someone had helped you?

Answer: I will show great respect and thankful towards them if someone had helped me. 

New words and their meanings:

eagerly: with interest/to show excitement about something that is going to happen

corridor: a long narrow passage on a train or between rooms in a building

announced: to tell people something in a loud voice

pleased: very happy

Let us understand:

I. Number these events in the correct order as they occur in the story.

Maya felt very bad for poor Sameer. (3)

It was the time for lunch. (1)

All the children shared their food with Sameer. (4)

Sameer had forgotten to bring his lunch. (2)

II. Answer the following questions:

1. Who was the first to notice Sameer sitting alone in the corner?

Answer: Maya was the first to notice Sameer sitting alone in the corner.

2. Why did not Sameer bring his lunch box?

Sameer forgot to bring his lunch box.

3. How did Sameer thank his friends? 

Answer:  Sameer said, “I wish everyone had friends like you. Thank you my dear friends.” and thank his friends.

III. Choose the appropriate describing words from the box to fill in the blanks. Look at the example.

IV. In each set of words there is a word which is the general name of all the others in it. Underline that word. One is done for you.

V. Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the words given in brackets.

5.  Door opened to outside.

6. Lunch box on the bench is missing.
