DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Prisons found dead with throat slit, no evidence of terrorism, CCTV shows domestic helper running away from crime scene, police says

Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Department DGP Hemant Kumar Lohia was found dead at his residence in Jammu on Monday. Earlier it was said that terrorist organization People’s Anti-Fascist Force claimed responsibility for the killing. So far, no terrorist act is apparent, sources said.

Lohia’s domestic help, identified as Yasir, is suspected to be the main culprit, police said. A search has been started for the accused. Police sources said CCTV footage recovered from the crime scene shows the accused fleeing shortly after the murder.

Police have recovered CCTV footage from the crime scene, which shows suspect Yasir running away after the murder. He worked at home for about six months. Sources said preliminary investigation revealed that he was quite aggressive in his behavior and depressed.

So far, no terrorist act is apparent, sources said. A thorough investigation is underway to rule out any possibility. The crime weapon was recovered along with some documentary evidence reflecting the mental state of the suspect.
